I just have to say that laundry is kind of my arch nemesis. It’s such a necessary evil. I mean, if you don’t do it you will either have to walk around naked all the time or wear clothes that will most definitely be stinky and gross. Either way this would make my social life take a turn that I’m not really wanting.
Anyway, with as much as I despise laundry, I’ve gotten a pretty good system down over the years. I start it on Friday evening (because I’m super cool and that’s what super cool people do on Friday nights). My goal is always to have ALL of the laundry DONE by Sunday evening (and I mean DONE – all hung up and put away). This doesn’t always happen when we have a busy weekend, but it’s my goal.
Since I workout a lot, I have a ton of extra laundry in the form of workout clothes. Now, I have realized that my beloved running and workout clothes gets quite the funk to it, that doesn’t always come out with just a regular wash. There’s something about that tech wear that really like to hang on to the sweat and stink. Here are two things that I have learned that really help me deal with this stink and get it out of my workout clothes:
- When you take your clothes off after a run or workout, hang it to dry!! You don’t want your sweaty clothes just laying in heap in your hamper. They will not completely dry and they will begin to mildew! Ewwwww!!!
- Use vinegar in your washing machine instead of softener. Vinegar is magical at neutralizing smells and killing the stink germs. I just put it in where I would normally put my softener and voila! I have smell free workout clothes all ready for the next sweat session.
What are your best laundry tip? Do you have any awesome systems in place that help you get everything done more efficiently? Do you have an way of de-stinking your workout clothes? Let me know about them. Every little bit will help.
